Corker 2020 Race Information Email
Dear Runner
There's now less than a week to go before the Castle Hill Corker. Here's your race day information pack, please take the time to read it carefully.
WEATHER
At time of writing we're hoping that the weather on race day will be less severe than the last 2 weekends and we'll be able to go ahead with the event. However the safety of runners and volunteers is the most important thing so we will be keeping a close eye on the forecast over the next few days. Keep an eye on our website and facebook page for any updates.
Key Information
Race Date: 23rd February
Race start time: 10am (Briefing 9:55)
Registration open: 8:30am to 9:40am
Race HQ: Filleigh Village Hall EX32 0RS
Parking: Head to Filliegh and look out for parking signs.
Race distance: Nearly 6.5 miles ish (approximately, something like that)
No headphones to be worn during the event.
Parking
There is limited parking at the village hall, once this is full you will be directed to park in Bray Leino (EX32 0RX) who have kindly allowed us to use their car park again. Please DO NOT park on their grass. There is a 10 minute stroll from Bray Leino to race HQ so please leave yourself enough time to get to registration.
Important - Please don't leave any cars in the Bray Leino car park once the event is over. Our parking marshals have to stay on duty there until the car park is empty and they'll want to get home for tea!
Registration
Please attend the registration desk in the village hall to collect your bib number. Don't forget to fill in the medical information form on the back.
Route
The route remains the same as last year, about 6.5 miles. Start and finish will be on the track on the opposite side of the road from the village hall. Please take care walking on the road between race HQ and the start/finish. The route starts almost immediately with a nice hill and there are a few others to delight you along the way. Once you get to the tunnel you've done most of the hard work, there's one last tester just after it but then it's plain sailing all the way back to the finish. There's a short section along a public road and a road crossing. At these points please listen to marshals and be prepared to stop, we can't force cars stop for you. The rest of the route is more fun, mud and gravel tracks. Take care in the tunnel, it will be lit but there are a few rocks and puddles in there to watch out for.
There will be marshals on the route who are predominantly there for your safety but will also try to guide and support you too. They are all volunteers so please thank them as you go. The course will be marked with black arrows on a yellow background and tape.
There will be 2 cheerful back markers sweeping up those who choose to take things a bit more steady at the back.
Baggage
Your bib number will come with a tear off baggage label. Baggage can be dropped off at the Simmons Fruit and Veg vans in the village hall car park. Anything left in the village hall is left at your own risk.
Prize Giving
Trophies will be presented in the village hall at 11:45 ish. There are prizes for top 3 male and female, top 2 in each age category and team prizes.
Medical Cover
We have medical support from St John Ambulance. If you need medical help during the race please speak to the nearest marshal. Look after your fellow runners, if you see someone in trouble please stop and help them.
Transfers
No more transfers will be accepted.
